Submitted by Mahesh Patil:

when the charm becomes so cute,

the flower becomes the fruit .

beauty on her ance,

beingness is romance.

some time i spend with the blacks widow ,

some time apart me i feel my shadow .

there the dark

seems no-one

close your eyes

go find the sun.

touching the light is the secret art,

love arise deep in the heart…………..

SPICE – 1st place

By: Minnette Santarcangelo

Fields of sunflowers dancing through my mind

Wooden hearts pulsate, feral to the core

The hand on my belly, cords sizzling, sways to the rhythm

Holding hands drifting with the evening’s breeze

Exploring the unknown reveals bounded desires

Dimensional petals slowly open, synergy flows, pleasures unfold

Spicy tongues indulge, surrender to the night’s mystical call

The drapes fall, peace claims all

Love Never Forgets

Submitted by Douglas A. Phillips

I got the note with the invitation,
I must admit I was taken back.
I took off work, went home for meditation
Before I had a stress attack.

I can’t forget that week we first fell in love.
We talked for hours every night
You’re everything I just couldn’t get enough
And when we made love, it was so right.

But we were young and oh so crazy
We’re probably lucky we both lived.
When we grew apart, it didn’t even faze me.
I was too busy to feel.

I can’t forget our trip to California.
I can still see your smile, walking Venice Beach.
As I look back, I really adored you.
We couldn’t stop laughing; we were rolling to the beat.

I know you’ve met my wife and seen our new baby
And I can tell you love him.
There’s no doubt he’s found a good lady
And I hope your love never dims.

But I won’t forget our week-ends hiking.
We were searching for new waterfalls.
We’d find a special place, to hang out and be free
We were partners through it all.

I guess I put our love as far away as I could,
But you’ve surely awoken it
When I read in your note,You’ll always love me
And that you will never forget.

I can’t forget
I won’t forget
We’ll never forget
Love never forgets

I got the note in the wedding invitation.

Poetry Submission

In the heat of the last day of the contest we failed to post two of the entries we judged. Although they didn’t win any tickets, we still think they are winners and apologize for not posting them in a more timely manner. . .

I was sitting at home the other night thinking about how important education has become in my life and so I picked up a pen and jotted a few lines down… I hope you enjoy!

Education is Life

by Kimberly Kassaw

Days of youth

Slowly slip away

Months turn into years

And memories often

Fade

That is why education is so important,

To focus and to believe

That anything is possible to those

Who maintain the desire to achieve

Life is a journey

Knowledge is a quest

Combine with a willing student

And education becomes the foundation for lifelong success

A poem by Jason Hudnell

IF I KNEW

If I knew I would lose;

I would not have tried.

If I knew sadness would come,

I would not have cried.

If I knew love could leave;

I would not have felt.

If I knew it would be this hard;

I would not have dealt.

If I knew secrets would be shared;

I would not have told.

If I knew the price of happiness would rise,

I would have never sold.

If I knew people had their faults

I would not have hated.

If I knew good things could pass me by

I would not have waited.

My Boy

Submitted by Jason Hudnell

My Boy

My Boy
Never in my dreams did I see such a face,
Smiling and laughing and all by His grace.
Never in my hopes did I wonder if,
I was the one that would be blessed with this gift.
Amazement and awe for the blessings bestowed,
Not even a lifetime could pay back what I owe.
Thank you are the only words to say
For this gift you have given me in each day.

Poetry Submission

Dreaming
Of an echo
Of a feeling
I remember
From my childhood

Crying
For the dying
Trying to remember
To live

Alone
Is sadness
Madness creeps in
Bringing with it
Sorrow
Pain
Loneliness
Frustration

Reaching
Deep inside
My pride
Was my
Undoing

Knowing
The truth
I rebuilt
My life
Facing tomorrow
With a smile

Blood is thicker than water

Submitted by Brandy Weidema

Blood is thicker than water.
In a world full of strangers,I don’t understand.
I never know what’s in store, I don’t have a plan.
I don’t have a family, I’m so very alone.
I don’t want a house, I need a home!
Brimming with news I can’t wait to tell.
The stench of rejection is a sickening smell.
no family pet, no white picket fence.
My need to find love is deep and intense.
When you don’t have a family, you really need friends,
Never know when they’ll be there, It always depends.
You can’t understand until you’ve walked in my shoes,
When you start out with nothing, there’s nothing to lose

Poetry Submission

Submitted by Samuel M Breashears.

I saw a ghost
As I traveled alone
Along an ancient abandoned highway

He
Or was it she
Beckoned to me and I followed
Not knowing what I might find

I saw sinners
And saints
And sacred clowns
Dancing round and round
To the beat of the drum

I saw an eagle flying majestically overhead
Flapping its wings in perfect rhythm
To the beat of the drum

I saw ashes of roses
I saw dark creatures destroying everything they touch
I saw misshapen memories

I heard a strange yet familiar tune
Coming from a ghost town saloon

Hey Mister Zen Guitar Man
Play a song for me
For there’s a darkness in my soul
And I can’t sleep

The trees
The mountains
The streams
Everything
Was dancing
To the beat of the drum
Even my ghostly companion
Was dancing
To the beat of the drum

It was then I realized
The drumbeat I heard
Was the beating of my own heart
I was trapped inside my tortured imagination
Where everything dances
To the beat of my drum

The sinners
And saints
And sacred clowns
Were down on the ground
Outside the ghost town
They couldn’t keep pace
To the beat of my drum

New roses grow from the ashes
The dark creatures have all faded away
Only the misshapen memories remain
To remind me of the way things used to be
